FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Chennai, July 09 Thanks to the Management, Principal and Chief operating officer of our Peri Institute of Technology, We had an opportunity to have faculty development programme. Mr.Arun Kumar, Innovative solutions, Trainer, an excellent personality developer has conducted the FDP on latest methods on Teaching. He has sound knowledge on teaching learning process, and versatile trainer in motivating the staff. He pointed out the ways to develop teaching & learning process so as to improve the results and to mould the character of engineering students.
The program began with the welcome address by our principal Dr. R. Palson Kennedy. He said that giving 100% result has become significant one nowadays. To reach high percentage of result is only in the hands of faculty. The staff have to modify their teaching methods and they should identify the three types of students such as gifted (No:1), average(No:2) and the slow learners (No:3) and accordingly they have to teach the students to bring good result. The principal has announced that those staff who give 100% result will be given cash award of Rs 5000. Management willing to pay more for well /good performing staff. Thus he motivated the staff in a fantastic way. He had challenged it and asked the same list who are the staff can give 100% result in the semester. Nearly 12 staff gave their names to the principal.
Next the trainer has started to take class, nearly he had discussed about 10 topics related to staff and students. One interested topic was that he compelled the staff to use traditional TLM (Teaching Learning Material). So as to enable the students to understand the subjects easily. The trainer advised the faculty members to be affectionate to the students particularly annoying students who may have some emotional problems in home or anywhere outside. So that only the teacher can extract the students. If a staff is sincere and affectionate surely he can produce 100% either mechanical/ civil or ECE, CSE, EEE. He said that the result is not in the hands of students but in the hands of teachers. He advised to find the dull students, give them coaching and also counselling. He said that no one is dull if a teacher is intelligent. Thus his training from 9.30 AM to 3.30 PM remained very excellent & very useful to teaching faculties.
Through the feedback many faculty members have expressed their 100% interest in his training class. Many had requested the principal to go for many FDP programs. At the end of the FDP Mr.P.Chandru /AP/English has rendered his vote of thanks. He expressed his sincere thanks to the management Principal and Chief trainer for giving such enthralling day.
